The 6th and 7th Battalions of the 2nd London Division came to War Stations in the Watford Area in August 1914 and the first line troops left for France in March 1915.

 

On 8th March 1915 No 2177 Rifleman C. E. Robinson, B Company 1st 6th City of London Rifles, 4th Brigade 2nd London Division sent a post card to his girl friend saying they were about to move [from Watford area.]
