Highway Robbery at Watford from Jackson's Oxford Journal December 6th, 1800 |
|
OFFENCES. - On Friday last, about nine o'clock, as Mr. and Mrs Kingston, of Watford, were coming to town in a post chaise, they were stopped exactly opposite the five mile stone by two highwaymen, who robbed Mr. K. of five pounds in cash and his gold watch, but returned him his pocket book, containing memorandoms, etc. Mrs Kingston was apparently so alarmed, that they politely assured her they would not touch her, and accordingly left her unmolested. They were in crapes, well mounted, and after the commission of the robbery rode off towards London. |
