Frogmore Lodge,

Aston/Watton

Received the 20th day of August 1851 of the Revd. Thomas Dawson Hudson & James William Smith, Esqr. Trustees of the Settlement dated the 26th October 1839 executed by my late father William Hudson of Frogmore Lodge in the county Herts Esqr the sum of Ten Thousand pounds thereby directed to be raised and paid to me.    £10,000                                                              G I Hudson

When the above receipt for £10,000 came up for sale on ebay and I decided to find out more about the people involved.

It turns out that three generations of the Hudson family lived at Frogmore, Aston, (see right) between about 1819 and 1906, although they also had London Residences.

Tell Me

Any other information on the family when they were at Aston would be welcome.

WWII Ref It was taken over by the Government during the Second World War when it became Station 18, an outstation of Station 43 at Audley End House, headquarters of the Special Operations Executive (SOE) Polish Section. Frogmore Hall acted as a holding and dispatch station for agents being parachuted into Poland until the end of the war.
