Sunnyside

The Sunnyside parish was created out of the eastern section of Northchurch parish in 1909, and includes a significant part of the town of Berkhamsted. Part of the rural area was transferred to Bourne End in 1915.

Berkhamsted

The ecclesiastical parish of Sunnyside, formed in 1909 from the parish of Northchurch, had two churches, namely St. Michael and All Angels and St John's, Broadway; but in 1915 the latter church was made the parish church for the new parish of Nourne End.

The church of St Michael and All Angels, erected in 1909, is a building in the 13th century style, consisting of chancel, nave, south aisle and a western tower; there are 300 sitttings, The living is a vicarage, net yrarly value £150, in the gift of the Duke of Cornwall, and held since 1909 by the Rev. Richard Henry Burdon Cattell M.A. of Exeter College, Oxford, who resides in the vicarage.
