Hamels Braughing See the Book: Garden-making and the Freman Family: A Memoir of Hamels 1713-1733

Hamells - from Chauncy The Historical Antiques of Hertfordshire 1700 (1826 reprint)

Hamels was built about 1580 by John Brograve, Esq., and the above engraving shows the house and gardens after the gardens had been beautified by Sir John Brograve in about 1680. In 1707 Sir Thomas Brograve sold the house, and the following engraving show the sane view after the house and garden had been significantly changed by the new owner, Ralph Freman.
