This card was sent by Aunt Ellen to Fred Joyner who was in Sydney, NSW, Australia. (Hence unusual franking over the picture) She says "Fancy yourself as of old, sliding on this pond heels upwards." This suggests that Fred had played on the frozen pond in his childhood. A 15 year old Fred Joyner is listed as living in Cheshunt in the 1901 census. |
