Furneux Pelham (3 miles N.E.) is watered by the Ash. The Hall, in a spacious park, is Elizabethan with later additions. East End and Patient End are hamlets. This manor was formerly owned by the Norman family of de Furneux. The parish church has an embattled western tower containing six bells and a clock which states "Time flies. Mind your Business". In this church are some interesting brasses and the early 16th century tomb of Robert Newport who built the chapel which adjoins the south aisle.
