Post Cards of Berkhamsted
It should be noted that the above cards have a glazed surface and have been lightly embossed round the frame. The result has been to crack the glaze round the frame (fortunately only minimally in the picture area) and cause flaking and colour loss in the brown frame - which has been digitally repaired in all the above examples. It seems likely that these were two different sets, each with 6 different cards. |
if you can supply details (and possibly scans) of other examples |

Several LN Northampton cards like thisà |
A search for online images of post cards by a publisher "LN" producing somewhat similar cards of a similar date turned up this vignette card of Queen Eleanor's Cross, Northampton, and 3 similar Northamptonshire views identified as being produced by "LN Publishing" (backs unseen). I found about a dozen conventional view cards of Northamptonshire (posted between 1908 and 1912) and I found a small number of references to Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire numbered views. It is therefore likely, but not certain, that the Berkhamsted cards were produced by a Northampton publisher. |
