The distinctive silhouette series of post cards was issued in 1904.

Stewart & Woolf, of 8 & 9 Charles Street, Hatton Garden, London, E.C., produced a wide range of post cards, including some view cards from around the U.K. In 1904 a unique series was introduced featuring town views printed in black silhouette, with windows , lights and sky picked out in silver or gold, giving the appearance of sunset.
