A Talk given to the St Albans & Hertfordshire Architectural & Archaeological Society at St Albans on 7th January 2003

Sons: Joseph (1781-1834?) & Benjamin (1792-18??)
- 1790s onward: Benjamin (senior) recorded as bricklayer & builder in a number of surviving accounts..
- 1813: Enclosed part of Bernards Heath for Brickmaking.
- 1815 & 1822: Before Sandridge Manor Court for encroaching on the Heath.
- 1827: "Joseph Fowler has left the pits dug by him on Bernard Heath aforesaid for brick earth in a dangerous state and the said Joseph Fowler being present in court undertook to fill in the same."
- 1833: Joseph Fowler set up the waterworks on the site.
- 1835: Joseph had died, no definite evidence of further brick making.
