A Stage Coach accident: 1817

Wednesday Morning, as the Luton stage was passing over Bernard Heath, near St Albans, for London, one of the wheels came off, and the coach thereby falling on one side, one of the horses had his leg broken, which rendered it necessary to kill the poor animal. The Coachman was likewise a little shaken, but fortunately no hurt was sustained by the passengers.
