Parish Church
St Peter and St Paul
The Rev. T. K. Lowdell was instituted and
inducted as the new Vicar of Tring before a large congregation at the
Parish Church of St. Peter and St. Paul on Thursday evening week. The
Bishop of St Albans, who instituted Mr. Lowdell, afterwards addressed
the congregation and invited them to join with him in a period of silent
remembrance of the presence of God. He expressed the hope that the new
Vicar would often in his services have such times of silence.
The Rt. Rev. C. T. T. Wood [later Bishop Wood] Archdeacon of St. Albans, and himself a former Vicar of Tring, inducted Mr. Lowdell, who was accompanied on his tour of the Church by the Churchwardens, Messrs A. Smith and F. L. Westron. … A full choir led the singing, which was accompanied by the church organist, Mr. E. Bell. Bucks Herald, 25th April |

"UNLUCKY 13!" – "I don’t
think God is the sort of God who will lash out because we have 13
sidesmen" was the comment by the vicar (Rev. T. K. Lowdell) at the
annual parochial church meeting when it was suggested by Churchwarden F.
T. Westron that another sidesman should be appointed as the total was
13.
