Family Records Centre
The Centre has now closed
Most information is now available online or at the National Archives
see General Records Office Web Site
Page updated June 2008
If you are in London the Family Records Centre in Myddleton Street is an essential source of information, as you can see the GRO Birth, Marriage and Death indexes from 1837 and the census returns from 1841 to 1901. The web site gives details, and links to other useful web sites.
Because most of the records are now available online there has been talk of closing the centre and consolidation at Kew.
Update see news item on the removal of the index books in October 2007
