Key Web Sites

Images of England, funded by English Heritage and the Heritage Lottery Fund, is a groundbreaking initiative which aims to create a 'point in time' photographic record of England's listed buildings.

It is easy to use, but you need to register (free) before you search for the complete information. At the present time there are a number of listed buildings which have not yet been photographed. It should be noted that the descriptions often contain many specialist architectural terms.

The site aims to record pictures of as many listed buildings as possible at the turn of the millenium.

British Listed Buildings

www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk

This contains descriptions of the listed buildings (potentially more up to date than Images of England) and has the facility for pictures (both ancient and modern) to be added. Comments about the buildings can also be added. At present the number of such additions for Hertfordshire places is minimal.
