One might expect a posting house to have an archway allowing easy rear access - but there is one architectural feature one might expect in a posting house - the first floor bay window, allowing the publican to look up and down the High Street to see approaching customers as quickly as possible - so he could greet them at the front door.

Changes in use, including using it as an overflow from the hardware shop next door suggest the two have had a workin connection since the 1850s - possibly a common owner.
