Richard GROVER (robyn.grover @t clear.net.nz) of Wellington, New Zealand asked the ENG-HERTFORDSHIRE-L list: I have an interest in any WILSONS in the Berkampstead area. In particular, Mary WILSON( born around 1846). Daughter of Joseph WILSON. Mary married my g. grandfather Emanuel GROVER in Berkhampstead in 1884.
In the 1851 census transcript the family you want is shown living in River Terrace, Gossoms End, Northchurch as follows:

Modern Berkhamsted (note current official spelling which differs from that in many old records and some modern indexes) consists of the historic parishes of Berkhamsted St Peter and Northchurch and is sometimes described as Great Berkhamsted to distinguish it from Little Berkhampstead on the other side of the county.
