Chris Wille (stig.dimps @t virgin.net) of the Isle of Wight says: I am trying to find out more about My Great Great Grandfather Pierre James Wille. He was a Garderner, Florist, Greengrocer, Fruitier, in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire. The year was about 1907. I know that his son was Frederick William Wille (Born 1867, Berkhamsted) But that is all I know. I don't have a photo of them or have any knowledge of any existing Family who might be still there.

The 1881 census CD shows that Pierre J Wille (50, born Belgium) was a gardener living at 10 Spencer Road, St Pancras, London, with his wife Sarah A Wille (41, dressmaker, born Streatham, Surrey) and three children, all born in Berkhamsted: Frederick W (13, shop boy), Flora M (11, scholar) and Rosalie A D (8, scholar).

The British Vital Records CD shows that the Berkhamsted baptismal registers contains details of the following children of Pierre Jacque and Sarah Ann Wille

 Interestingly the registers also contain the children of Jean Francois and Charlotte Catherine Wille, who may well be cousins:

It could be a good idea to look for the families in the 1861 or 1871 census microfilms for Berkhamsted.

Marlene Hurney (marsmemories @t sio.midco.net), of Sioux Falls, SD, USA, writes: I am researching the WILLE surname.  I see your Wille people were originally from Belgium.  I am not sure where my Wille family is from but have read these families were from Belgium or France.  From what I can see, the Wille families moved around a great deal and had left their home country because of religious persecution.  If you are interested, please contact me.
