Linda Bevan (lindajbevan

in researching my family history of Larder.
I have the name Ernest William Lardner born
05.06.1883 St Peters, St Albans, Church Street.
Ernest was born 05.06.1883 and his father
was John Thomas Lardner his mother Eliza
Ann Lardner nee Davis. This is
the only information I have taken from a family bible.
My site contains a tutorial
specifically aimed at beginners with problems like yours:
By following the approach described in the tutorial
I found the following in a few minutes on the Ancestry
web site:
- In the 1891 census
Ernest W Lardner (born St
Albans) was living with his parents and two brothers at Barford
St Michael, Oxfordshire and his father was 36 years old and born
in Steeple Aston, Oxfordshire.
- In the 1901 census
Ernest was in the Army.
- John Thomas Lardner
married in St Albans in 1879
- In the 1861 census
John Thomas Lardner was living with his
parents and siblings at Steeple Aston,
in Oxfordshire.
- I also noted, but did not record, entries for John
Thomas Lardner in later census years.
- I did not look for information on John's
parents in earlier years, or for Eliza Ann Davis
or her parents and siblings - but would probably have found something in a
few more minutes.
It looks as if the specifically Lardner
connection with Hertfordshire was
comparatively brief, but Eliza Ann Davis was
born in St Albans.
Apart from the marriage (where you will need to purchase the certificate
to get full details) the records available online (in some cases for a modest
fee) contain considerable details of all the people in the household, and you
can download copies of the original documents.
There are web pages
for St Peters & St
Albans
