Lewis William Curtis, Oxhey, 1911-1943

Please Note: This site does not normally deal with people born after the First World War, or with searches for living people. However the subject of this enquiry suggests a wider interest. |
Dear Sir,
On the fourth of July 1943 a RAF Stirling bomber OJ-B BF 530 of the 149 Squadron
was shot down by a German night fighter and crashed in Geetbets. Six crew
members were killed. On board was Lewis William Curtis, air gunner, nr 149063,
32 years old, son of Samuel Sidney Curtis and Jessy Curtis, husband of Louise
Anny Curtis, from Oxhey Hertfordshire. At the time he lived at 39 Hillcroft
Crescent in Oxhey. As this incident will be 65 yaers ago this year our local
historical society wants to commemorate this incident and the crew members which
died for our freedom. We are looking for photos of them as we want to erect a
monument. That's why were are looking for relatives (wife, children) of these
crewmembers. We already found five out of eight. I already wrote to the Watford
Observer and an article was published on January third, but without any result.
Could you please help us find relatives of Lewis William Curtis. A photo is much
nicer than a question-mark.
Yours sincerely
