With Cheerful Zeal A History of the Dagnall Street Baptist Church, St Albans Derek Turner 1999 No ISBN A4 , 148 page, 16 pages of photographs [Now out of print] |
Some of my Gibbs relatives were associated with this interesting chapel and about a year ago I was lucky enough to find a copy of this text of this hard to find book. This interesting book clearly owes much to the interesting and extensive archives held by the church going back to 1675. The church was founded in the village of Kensworth in about 1600 but moved to the site in Dagnall Street in 1720. Improvements were made to the building over the years, including significant work in 1840,and with the current church, on the same site , being erected in 1885. |

Genealogists should note that there is no index, and most of the personal names mentioned in the text relate to misister, officers and trustees of the church and few ordinary church members are named. |
