The St Albans Cricket Club was by far the most significant sporting club in the town, and this letter suggests that the club should start a St Albans Football Club. I am not certain when the St Albans Football Club was formed, but there are references to it playing on Bernards Heath in 1883, and from that date onwards there are regular reports of matches. However continuity is uncertain and the current St Albans F.C. was founded in 1908.
