Valerie Edwards (hedwards @t primus.ca) of Vancouver Island, BC, Canada has provided the following information: I would think that the reason that Thomas Hart could not be found in the St Albans 1851 census (where Elizabeth Ivory and family are) is probably because he was in North Mimms at that time with his family.  Herewith a few details about him:

Thomas Hart bapt. 22 Dec 1839 North Mimms (IGI) to Richard & Elizabeth HartRichard was a farmer of 120ac employing 5 men at Beastney Farm, St. Peters, St Albans in 1881 (census index).  In 1851 Richard was in North Mimms. Thomas married Ann Taylor 17th June 1865 at St. Peters, St. AlbansAnn was born c. 1844 in Gloucestershire (1881 census index). Thomas & Ann Hart had 3 children Rebecca (1867), Thomas (1870) and Emma (1872) all born and living at The Camp, St Peters, St Albans according to the 1881 census index.

I am researching my own Harts in East Hertfordshire but have been avidly collecting information on other Harts when I come by it! Perhaps this will help someone.

If you can add to the information given above tell me.
