The First Waterworks on Bernards Heath

 

What is known for certain is that in 1833 a deep well was dug in or near the Fowler's brickyard somewhere to the south of Heath Farm and used to supply mains water to St Albans.

What happened to this well when a replacement well was built at Stonecross in 1861 is not known.
